KIPP Capital Region Update – Tuesday, May 16,2023 – Regional Update

Dear KIPP Troy Prep Families,

We are writing to inform you about an incident today involving school safety at KIPP Troy Prep Middle and High School. We want to begin by assuring you that all students at KIPP Troy Prep Schools are safe.

Today, at 7:50 am at the KIPP Troy Prep Middle School, it was reported that neighborhood children were firing a BB gun in the vicinity of KIPP Troy Prep Middle and High School.

For extra precaution, all KIPP Troy Prep Middle School buses were directed to the High School entrance for unloading and entrance into the building. Troy Police Department arrived, investigated and removed the BB gun.  Additionally, KIPP Capital Region School Safety Officers also arrived and are at KIPP Troy Prep Middle and High School.

We know it’s never easy hearing about potential threats to school safety. We encourage you to talk with your child about the seriousness of these types of incidents and encourage them to come forward to school staff about anything they see or hear related to school safety.

Thank you for entrusting us with the care of your children – we will always do everything we can to keep them safe.

Please feel free to reach out to your school leaders if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Natalie Orcutt
