The mission of KIPP Capital High School is to be a joyful, inclusive community that supports every student’s academic potential and personal growth while fostering critical thinking. Through strong family and community partnerships, we provide comprehensive academic programs and support systems, and enriching activities that prepare scholars to lead with their innate brilliance and courage to pursue the paths of their choosing, impacting the Capital Region and our world for the better.

Our vision is that we will be a community lighthouse where academic excellence meets inclusion and support, empowering scholars to celebrate their innate brilliance, pursue their passions, and contribute to a just society inside and outside our school’s walls.
About
Since the addition of the Albany Community and Troy Prep Schools, KIPP has grown from two to seven schools in just a few years. KIPP Capital Region surveyed parents in the spring of 2023 to see if they would be interested in sending their children to a KIPP High School. The results were overwhelmingly positive and confirmed to us that we need to have a space to hold all KIPPsters that want to continue their educational journey with us.
Constructed for 800 students, the three-floor high school was designed to create a safe, student-affirming learning environment where KIPP high schoolers can receive an academically rigorous, engaging curriculum to prepare them for the future of their choosing. Ensuring the building and learning spaces are flexible and adaptable, the community-centering focal point of the building will be a cafeteria and learning staircase, designed to serve as a central hub supporting large or small gatherings, complete with a platform stage and projection screen. Additionally, students will utilize general classrooms with mobile furniture to allow educators to adjust and evolve to the learning needs of students. The high school also will feature art and science-specific classrooms, music spaces, computer, media, and innovation labs, a modern gymnasium and fitness center, and a counseling suite.
